Oasis-CAIMAN

Oasis-CAIMAN (Catastrophe and Incident Management and Analysis Network) was an innovative project led by Oasis Hub Ltd, aimed at revolutionizing post-disaster damage assessment using drone imagery and machine learning. Funded by the UK’s Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund and developed in collaboration with Cranfield University, the initiative sought to create a software tool capable of analyzing high-resolution drone-captured images to assess damage from extreme events such as floods, windstorms, tornadoes, and landslides. The system was designed to produce detailed 3D visualizations and quantify flood extents, depths, and impacts on buildings and infrastructure with high accuracy.GtR

A key feature of Oasis-CAIMAN was its integration with a mobile app-based claims database, allowing insurance policyholders to contribute visual evidence directly into the assessment process. This approach aimed to enhance transparency and trust between insurers and claimants by enabling rapid, collaborative evaluations of damage. Beyond insurance, the tool has potential applications for emergency responders and disaster risk managers, offering a scalable solution for swift, data-driven decision-making in the aftermath of catastrophic events. By combining advanced analytics with user-generated data, Oasis-CAIMAN represented a significant step forward in leveraging technology for effective disaster response and recovery. In 2022, Oasis-CAIMAN was acquired by dClimate, expanding its reach and further advancing innovative technology-driven solutions for disaster resilience and response.
